If you are long term blog readers then you will know my love for good quality wooden toys, and BRIO is a brand that I have purchased long before I started reviewing. BRIO is a brand I grew up with, and one that I couldn’t wait to share with my children, and every time we get the opportunity to review something from their extensive range, it is always an exciting time!

This past week we have been having so much fun with the BRIO Horse Stable and BRIO Horse Jumping Pack.

Lets take a closer look at each one…

BRIO Horse Stable

Opening the box up, I was sure there would be assembly needed, but I was pleased to see that the product is whole inside the box.

Minimal packaging is always great to see on a product, especially one from a brand that prides itself on Global Responsibility. You literally just need to unwrap the stable and it’s ready to go.

Included with the set is the stable, two horses, two horse coats, two people, a wheelbarrow and hay bale block, a removable step to attach to the stable, and also a section that means you can connect the set to iconic wooden BRIO railway track.

Opening up the stable allows some great space for playing. There is two opening sections, and when not in use they actually have magnets that allow the stable to stay shut, it is small details like that which really makes a difference. There is plenty of space inside the stable, with six individual stables for the horses to live, and plenty of space for storage of all the important tools needed to look after your horses. Although the whole stable isn’t made of solid wood, there is a plastic roof and walls, this means that the product is lighter and can be easily open and shut and even carried by a child.

The horses that come included are great, they have a head which moves up and down, which is super important so your horse can graze. There is also a slot on the back of the horse which allows both the included figures to easily slot into, and ‘ride’. The included wheelbarrow can be wheeled by the figures too, although we did find that the ‘hay’ doesn’t sit too great inside the wheelbarrow, we could do with a smaller hay bale ideally. When the horses are not being ridden, their coats (included in the set) slip on nicely. All of these actions are easy enough for my three year old to do independently without any frustration, which is great. I love that the space in the stable is so vast when opened up, when not in use it’s compact but the design means so much storage space none of the pieces get lost.

The play factor of this set is huge, so much role play potential and scope to extend play too. It is a firm favourite and will be a much loved part of our BRIO collection. The RRP is £39.99, which is a great price for a solid, great quality item that has so much play potential.

Brio Horse Jumping Pack

Included in the Horse Jumping Pack is five people (three are riders two look more spectator like), three horses, three horse coats with individual designs, a horse transporter truck, three jump obstacles, three fences and two seating units. That’s a whopping 25 piece set.

This set allows you to set up your very own horse jumping shows, and that’s exactly what we did. As the parts are all independent of each other, this means that your child can really can play with the set how they like, they can create any scenario and their imagination can really run wild.

The horse trailer is a great addition to the set, the back door of the trailer comes down to allow your horse to walk in, very life like! There is plenty of room inside the trailer for the horse, and Emma adores pushing it around too. The wheels are free rolling like all the BRIO Wooden track vehicles and this too fits the wooden track which is great.

This would be a great set to buy on its own, as it has so many different pieces you can really create some great play with it, but teamed with the stable is amazing. There is plenty of space inside the stable for the pieces of this set to be stored too. The RRP is just £23.99 which is a great price.

Both these items are fantastic new additions to our BRIO toy collection, they have the same BRIO quality that has made us long term fans of the brand, and the play factor has been amazing. As you can see, we have been using them outside in the nice weather, but they are great indoor toys too. After all, the imagination of a child is limitless…
