This consists of different large pieces of solid sheets that you just slot together. They create a sturdy base which then forms your background and a perfect place to store all your creations.

There is also two different sets of bases for your to build your own creations, three cards for design templates, but these are double sided, so 6 designs.

There is also a handy plastic holder which has 8 holes for putting your cubes in for easy access when building. You also get the sprayer bottle which is key to creating your awesome models. Finally you get 1000 cubes in assorted colours  (but all useful for the designs included).

Our first actual build was the blue dragon. To complete one of the builds all you do is pop the desired card underneath the plastic base, then add the top plastic base and you are ready to go. You follow the pattern of the card underneath and put the appropriate cubes on to the right holes. It does take a little attention to detail, but it is easy enough for my 6 year old to do, and he loved finding something to take his time over. It’s an activity that takes a little patience, but there is different designs so something for everyone to complete. As a parent I loved the activity of putting the cubes on as it really helps with my sons hand eye coordination .

Once your cubes are all in place you just have to make sure they are all flat and pressed in, then use the sprayer bottle (supplied with the kit) and spray the model all over. You have to leave it 30 minutes minimum to dry, but this is reduced if you tap the excess off by tilting it. I did find that leaving them for over an hour was best for being able to use them to play. I love that there is no heat required, no glue, just literally a spray of water to make them join together. My only grumble is that there is no lid for the cube storage tray, which means storage is a little tricky, I think we will invest in a plastic tub for ours.

Once the models have been left to dry, they can be used on the provided supports, enabling you to play with them, battle and even keep them as a nice display. Mark loves his fortress and is already deciding what to create next! You can buy refill packs for the cubes too online. They are great fun, an engaging toy that has lots of play factor, we approve!

Check out www.character-online.com for the full series and to buy yours. RRP is £29.99 which is a really fair price for the set.
