Last week Morrisons announced how it has reduced a large range of items to be cheaper, not just for a few weeks as a special offer, but permanently lower. As a challenge, Morrisons sent me £80 worth of vouchers for me to shop at my local store and see if it was any cheaper.

Starting off my trip, it was easy to park in the parent and child spaces, my only issue was that there is no trolley park close by, so I had to go inside the store to get a trolley from the foyer. Oh and you have to pop a £1 coin in the slot to get a trolley, go prepared people!

The signs outside, and even as we entered were clear to show Cheaper items were now available.

The fruit and veg was our first port of call, and there was plenty to choose from. They had everything we needed on our list, although getting home later I found my bananas were really bruised. The meat section was a little low on stock, but the prices were brilliant, I picked up some rump steak which was just £2.67 and £2.63.

The bakery department was plentiful, with doughnuts and breads galore, I picked up everything I needed. However the fresh cake refrigerator was so low on stock it was scary, although very good for my diet it would seem.

The checkouts were not busy, and the staff were friendly, even the toilets were really clean. However I have no intention to return to that particular store due to the poor range and poor stock levels. Comparing the price to other supermarkets, I do not think it is any cheaper to any other. The other stores have special offers, and some even compare their prices with other supermarkets and give you a voucher for the difference, if there is any that is. I am much more a bargains only kind of shopper, I buy the items half price over buying the same product on each trip.  Morrisons do have special offers though, and I would certainly consider going to a different Morrisons store to do a weekly shop if I lived near a bigger store. Especially for the steak. Mmmmm, steak.

I was provided with £80 of vouchers, for the purpose of this shop. This is in collaboration with Britmums.
