Christmas is less than a month away, but while everyone else is full of festive spirit and gingerbread, you’re still not getting that message of goodwill. If you feel more like Scrooge than Santa, these five tips should have you rockin’ around the Christmas tree with the best of them.

Put on your Christmas jumper

If you don’t have a cheesy Christmas jumper, now is the time to get one. You can’t be miserable when you’ve got Rudolph grinning on your chest, a bit like mine….

Make a playlist on Spotify

Everyone has a favourite Christmas song. Whether it’s Mariah explaining that you’re top of her wishlist, or the Pogues lamenting that they could have been someone, there has to be a festive jam that gets you in the mood. Spend some time putting together your favourite tunes on Spotify to pick you up wherever you are.

Get pinning

Knowing that you’re going to be unwrapping something you really want makes Christmas morning that much more exciting! Instead of dropping hints, make a Pinterest board. You can send it to your partner, siblings and parents, and don’t forget Santa!

Start your Christmas shopping

Now your own wishlist is complete you won’t be tempted to buy for yourself! Instead you can jump straight in by home shopping on Very.co.uk from the comfort of your sofa, and start ticking names off your Christmas list. It’s hard not to feel festive when you’re splashing your cash on others. There seems to be nothing nicer than treating your loved ones to something lovely, that you know will make them smile.

Decorate the house

If all else fails, it’s time to bring out the big guns. Put up the Christmas tree, deck the halls with plenty of tinsel and stick some LED lights in the window. I love decorating the tree with the children’s handmade decorations, it gives a special personal feel.

Do some baking

You don’t need to be a contestant on the Great British Bake Off to whip up a batch of Christmas cookies. Spice things up with cinnamon and ginger and your home will soon be filled with Christmassy aromas.

No one can be merry all season, but following these tips is sure to lift your spirits from bah humbug to bright, at least until Boxing Day!

 Have a fabulous Christmas!
