This week was an exciting one, I found out when I got to our lesson that this week we would be needing goggles for ourselves. I was totally  not expecting that we were going to watch our babies swim underwater for the first time with very own eyes!

Our lesson started out in the usual routine, and Emma recognised the usual songs, she loved singing ‘Humpty Dumpty’ while she sat on the wall at the side of the pool, before having ‘a great fall’ into the water, it never fails to make her giggle.  We progressed our lessons by continuing the underwater swims with a release (where we put them under the water, and let go briefly) to doing the swim in pairs, instead of individually. We also done a moving underwater swim with the babies, so we walked backwards, take the babies under, release and carry on walking back as they swim towards us, before we carefully take them out of the water and continue our swim with them on the surface.  Emma really seems to be getting used to going under the water, and even dealing better with it when she comes out. I also feel a lot more confident about taking her under.

The moment we got to see our babies underwater for the first time, was something I was nervous about. I suffer ear problems frequently and I am not a fan of going underwater. But armed with some goggles and an instructor who is so patient with her explaining, I done it! I saw Emma swimming underwater, and it looked amazing! I cannot wait for her underwater photo shoot next month. This is a picture of my son swimming underwater when he was just a baby, 3 years ago now.

I can’t wait to get some shots of Baby Emma to match our pictures of her older brother.

  1. Aww that’s amazing. It’s great to see little babies swimming. They look so cute and it’s also good for their health.
