Sleepness nights rewarded by a smile…

If you are a parent to a newborn, or have ever been a parent to a newborn then you will know that awful sleep deprivation feeling. It was pretty awful with my first child, but at least when I only had one child I could sleep when they slept and catch some z’s. However when you have one already, or as the case is this time- three already, then the chances of catching any naps is non existent.  If you are really good then once the older kids are in bed you will sleep when the baby does, so you can be awake for the nightfeeds…but having whirlwind kids there is always a mess left behind of some kind, washing, dishwasher, bins…these are all the things that I do in the evenings when my eldest three have gone to sleep. I could do those things when they are awake, but I much prefer spending time with them, after all isn’t that the reason we had children?

I have to admit that I have great intentions of getting an ‘early night’ but it never seems to happen, at the moment I have the tax return on my brain, as well as some important work stuff. As a result I seem to roll into bed around 12am-2am, with Emma getting up anytime between 2-6, I struggle to keep my eyes open. Just when you feel like you may never get a decent night sleep again, this happens…

smiler baby

Those first smiles make it all worthwhile……
