Emma is now 5 weeks old, and it’s time for me to kick ass on this weight-loss mission. I have 2 stone to lose (OK, so it is actually 3, but I’ll go with 2 for now) and I am under no illusion that it’s not going to be easy. But at the same time, I have every intention of doing it myself. I can understand why some people find a weight loss group handy, but I just don’t think it is for me. I hate the thought of paying someone for them to tell me how fat I am. And lets face it, we all know how to lose weight, you eat less crap and do more exercise, it doesn’t take a genius to work out that you need to burn off what goes in. I also think that weight is down to a mental thing too, it’s all about the relationship you have with food, working out why you eat what you do. It is also mind over matter, if you want to do it that badly then you will. The pull of losing weight needs to be bigger than the pull of the chocolate (or whatever your weakness may be).
So today I weigh 13 stone 6lb. I have also taken all my measurements with a tape measure. I started off the day with some wholemeal toast and marmite, however two slices was cut down into one and a bit, as my 2 year old decided it looked inviting. I then refrained from snacking, but did have a can of redbull which I drank throughout the morning. Redbull is my one pleasure in life, I do not drink alcohol nor smoke. One can a day is my limit, and I ruddy enjoy it. Lunchtime I had a chicken sandwich. No crisps like I normally do, no lashings of cheese. I then had a low fat yoghurt, bet you are drooling at the thought of my lunch right now..no? Ah well I did indulge in a Cadburys Highlights hot chocolate in the afternoon, to curb my chocolate cravings. For dinner last night I cooked ‘red pepper and spicy chicken’ dish and homemade potato wedges with cajun spice. I love spicy food, and I hear it increases your metabolism (that could be a lie, but it makes me happy to think it’s true). For dessert I had a weightwatcher chocolate sundae, well excuse me but they cannot call it a sundae, it was chocolate mousse and a cream looking top. But the cream looking substance was not cream ,it tasted like custard. It was not unpleasant, just not what I expected. Throughout the day I drank lashings of water, something I do not mind one bit.
Then for the exercise. I have dreams of being able to go back to the gym, but with four kids and a hubby who is gone out of the house for 12 hours a day, and I am still working self employed when I get a chance to snatch some spare time, it is not likely to happen any time soon. I should really crack the wiifit out, but since we moved (in July I might add), we haven’t even plugged the Wii in. I did however spend the day running up and down the stairs as my 2 year old decided he has a new obsession of brushing his teeth and washing his hands every time I look engaged in feeding the baby. I also walked the school run, again something I don’t do. With tight timescales for getting everyone to school and playschool I have to drive or I just wouldn’t make it in time. But the afternoons I have a little bit more time. So with Marky on the Rider board of the Stokke, I left the house late and had to power walk to school. Go me!
I feel quite chuffed with day one, but I know it could just get boring from here on, so have bought some low fat snacks for those weak moments. I am thinking about the nice clothes I can buy when I have shed some pounds, and that is a bigger pull than the snacks right now!
