I’m sure you are all bored of hearing about how last month we took the big move to the Cotswold countryside from our town location in Essex, however it wasn’t just us that moved we bought all of our stuff, including my 6 year old washing machine which has been through 7 house moves. It has been on it’s last legs for a few years now, it gets used at least once a day, sometimes even twice or three times a day. The old washing machine is noisy, very very noisy, to the point where my daughter ran out of the kitchen in our old house screaming ‘MUM ITS GONNA BLOW UP!!!’ as it had gone into a spin cycle and was smacking the worktop and the units either side…only it never did go bang, so we carried on using it as there is always something else that our funds need spending on…
Some of the features of the machine that I read up about before it landed in my garage was:
A+++ rated, meaning super efficient, it is 30 times more efficent than a A rated machine. I don’t even think my old machine has a rating!! It states that it will cost us only £28.08 to run for a whole year.
9kg load. I have dreamt of having a 9kg load. My old machine was 6kg and although sizeable, when you have 3 messy kiddies (another on the way too) and a husband who is 6 foot 5, you need more room. Hoover say that you can fit a whopping 45 tshirts inside, and although I don’t have 45 tshirts to test this out, I have fitted in loads of washing, it even has room for my granny pants too!
3D Dynamic wash system. This is a special feature of special paddles and domes inside the machine which turn your washing, allowing it to get a deeper clean. I didn’t actually realise just how rubbish my old machine was until I used this. My clothes have come out really clean, the kids clothes have no dirt and stains remaining and even hubbys work clothes (he is a mechanic) have come out looking clean.
Rapid Quick Wash. Now I am not a fan of quick washes normally, but needs must when your husband asks ‘Are my work clothes clean?’ the night before he has to be back at work! The wash takes just 14 minutes, and comes out great, smelling fresh and allowing me to chuck it on an airer ready for him to grab in the morning….although don’t tell him this, or he will be making it a regular thing of avoiding putting his clothes in the washing basket.
KG Mode. This weighs your load during the first four minutes of the cycle and adjusts the time, the water needing to be used, and the electricity consumption accordingly. I have found this great for my nappy loads. As a mum who uses reusable nappies, I am keen to be a little bit environmentally friendly, and keeping down the bill of the water and the electric is a must for our budget.
Overall, the Hoover DYN9164DPG is a brilliant machine, it washes brilliantly and isn’t noisy at all. The dial on the front is easy to use and self explanatory. It is full of features and I love having the freedom to change the spin of each program as well as the temperature. I love the look of the chrome door, it gives an expensive feel to the machine, which although is probably lost on the home of the machine in our garage, it would look smart in any kitchen or utility room. I love the features on the machine, and I honestly cannot think of a bad thing to even say about it.
