Geomag by Flair is a construction set with a twist! My 9 year old son J is a massive fan of construction sets and is a bit of a whizz with bricks, so when we were offered the Geomag Police set to review I was pleased he could get his teeth into something that wasn’t bricks but still had the aspects of construction that he loves.  Now I knew that Geomag was a set which used magnetic rods and chrome spheres, but that was all I knew!

Opening up the box, the following contents were inside:

Looking for instructions we found a sheet which explained briefly how to assemble each of the 3 vechiles. I was surprised there wasn’t clearer instructions, but I do suppose that idiot instructions (ones I can understand) would take a certain degree of fun out of the construction stage.

First up J decided to build the helicopter. Popping out the plastic shell, it didn’t break or snap despite J not ever doing it before, this surprised me as I didn’t think the material was that robust, but clearly it is.

To assemble the vechiles you simply bend the plastic shell and support where needed with the rods and magnetic spheres which are included.

J really enjoyed building the helicopter, it took him about 15 minutes from start to finish.

Next up J made the Police Car.

Pleased with the results he set about creating the third and final vehicle in the set, the Police Truck. This is the only vehicle you cannot buy seperatly out of the set, you have to buy this set to get this vehicle. For some reason J struggled with the Police Truck, and no matter what J did one of the back wheels just wouldn’t stay on the car. I did have a look but I couldn’t work it out. The other vehicles are brilliant however and J has taken great delight in playing with them. The Police car attaches to the helipcopter and J has spent alot of time taking it for rides while making all manner of strange noises (it’s a boy thing!).

There is plenty of scope for other play, as included with the set is cones, and accessories which compliment the set perfectly.  The vehicles can be taken apart easily and put back together which is good as the RRP of £24.99 is not the cheapest.

J has enjoyed his Geomag set and I think it made a refreshing change for him from the construction bricks he loves so much. I would definitely consider buying Geomag in the future for him.
