People often ask how I get anything done when I have three children and work from home, well here is my secret….I get them to help. Now don’t be hasty and call childline just yet, they are by no means worked like a little slave. But seriously they actually help me with my chores and get this bit, they actually enjoy it!! I find it’s a great chance to spend some good quality time together and actually get something done too.

It all started off when my 9 year old was a toddler, he was fascinated at the sight of me polishing, so I gave him a duster too…he loved imitating what I did. In all honesty he certainly didn’t actually help get the job done quicker, he actually made it slow but a quick distraction of ‘Oh look at that over there’ and a quick wipe from me over his finger prints was enough to finish the job and give him some satisfaction that he had helped me.
Now I have my third child and his obsession with my hoover was more than I could take. Every time I got it out he would make a beeline for it, and at one year old he would scream if I dared touch hishoover. To avoid the problem I decided to buy him a little mini version, a smart move if I say so myself!

Of course I couldn’t resist buying the matching broom set too! This set created hours and hours of fun for Marky and it meant I finally got the chance to use my own hoover…that was until it blew up. Funnily enough since then Mark has shown no interest in his either.

Markys housework skills don’t end there though, the boy has a big love for washing up. Yes it may be the bubbles and water he likes, but this is a sure fire way to keep him amused on a rainyday.

In fact, Marky is more domesticated than daddy. At two years old he knows how to turn the washing machine onto a 40 wash, and how to fill the tumble drier up and turn it on…he even tried to give daddy a lesson in how to use the dishwasher when I was poorly!! His future wife will thank me one day….

  1. >What on earth is your Marky standing in to wash up, it looks genius! My kids all like to help out too – definitely makes life easier. Mich x

  2. >It's a Little Helper Fun Pod, it's brilliant for getting kids to help you in the kitchen and get them involved in cooking without falling off a chair 😉 xx
