You may of seen Uki before, he is currently starring in the hit CBeebies show ‘Show Me Show Me’.
Uki is a bright yellow but gentle character who doesn’t talk, but what makes him so special?

Uki is a gentle, colourful character in a colourful, natural enviroment with his various friends and ‘guardians’ whom research has shown provides a unique and innocent perspective on the world around us

The gentle music and the lack of speech encourages children to think for themselves. It has a calming effect on toddlers, and Mark stops dead in his tracks when Uki comes on the TV!

Uki has been welcomed by many other mums, research carried out by Sherbet Research concluded that mums welcome the simplicility of the storylines and namelessness of the characters as it enabled them to to interact with their children to direct the story and discuss themes. There was an open rejection of ‘made up’ language on other shows which mums felt was a breath of fresh air in Uki among the noisy, vibrant world of kids TV.

Uki is aimed at 2-4 years old, but I feel even younger children will love Uki just as much.

You can now explore the world of Uki on your iphone. A new iPhone app lets users discover Uki’s world through playful and endearing game based adventures, full of colour and sounds. It has been developed for children ages 1-4. There is a matching game, a finding game and Uki’s puzzle

You can find out more about Uki online at http://www.ukiland.com/ and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ukiland
Uki is shown as part of CBeebies show ‘Show Me Show Me’ at 9am and 1pm weekdays.
