There is 3 different Story Buddies in the range to choice from, including Watson and Cooper, as well as a limited edition Jingle the Husky.
We were sent Watson, the inquisitive Racoon to try out, and Brooke being a little book worm was keen to try him out.
The first thing I noticed is the quality of Watson. He is super soft and really well made. The book that comes with Watson is a hard-backed book and is top quality too.
What makes Watson the Story Buddy such a fantastic toy is the amazing technology that is hidden inside him. The story buddys have been created with innovative playback technology that prompts the toy to talk and read phrases loud when it hears certain trigger sentences.
To turn your Story Buddy on you simply press his ear and he is ready to go! You then read the story and the magic begins. When the passage in green is read aloud, the Story Buddy responds with an appropriate phrase or answer. It is so clever because it is not just one phrase being played over and over. Watson picks up exactly which phrase has been spoken and responds to that exact phrase.
The first time everyone has seen this amazing toy in action it has wowed everyone. It is such a clever toy!

This really is a clever toy that really encourages reading in children, Brooke has spent hours reading to Watson and giggling with him, he really has become her Story Buddy which she even takes to bed with her!
Hallmark have also created a free downloadable app suitable for use on iphones and iPads which accompany the Story Buddy Range. The app includes a short animated story as well as games and puzzles to enjoy. Each story can be played through the app’s internal narrator or you can record one yourself to add a personalised touch!
