When the nautilus arrived I couldn’t wait to get it fitted in my car. I already knew it had won a series of brilliant awards including a Pratical Parenting Award! The Graco Nautilus is both a stage 1 and stage 2 car seat. It is a forward facing seat from when your child weighs 9kg, but can be used right up until they weigh 32kgs.

Unpacking was easy, as I opened the box I found this…

after taking the contents out, I was faced by this:

To put the Nautilus together it was super simple. You just slot the head rest bit in the top of the seat. Then remove the cardboard bits in the middle, then the whole car seat can be folded together to a sitting position. It clicks to let you know it has been done.

It really was very easy! It is then ready to be fitted into the car.

The great thing about the Nautilus is how flexible it is with a growing child. As Mark is 19 months he has the 5 point harness fitted. But when he is older I can simply remove the harness and use the seat with an adult seat belt to secure him in. When Mark is bigger we can simply use the push button to move the head rest upwards, it is easy to do and can easily be done with one hand. Removing the harness is easy, if I can do it, anyone can!! The 5 point harness is easy to adjust which is great because Mark sometimes wears a coat, where as other days he may just be in a top.

Fitting the Nautlius inside my car was very easy. I have tried the Nautilus in both the front and rear of my car, and each one is just as simple. You simply slot the adult seat belt through the back of the seat, there is arrows to show you where. You then simply make sure the seat belt is as tight as possible, then use the red clip to secure the seat belt completely. If in doubt, it’s best to get it checked by a trained car seat fitter at a baby shop, but the car seat should not move once it is secured correctly.
The nautilus has two recline positions, which enable you to recline your child easily while the seat is fitted in the car, great for when your child falls asleep.

I love the width of the Graco Nautilus, it is roomy even for my large toddler, and has plenty of growing room for him the exact measurement is 50cms. Mark adores the cup holder, as well as the inside of the arm rests, as he can pop toys inside in the storage bits. Mark is very comfortable inside the Nautilus, there is harness protectors and a buckle protector, and the whole of the seat has a padded cover which is machine washable. I have taken it off to wash, and it was easy to remove and get back on. It washed up like new, despite the milkyway that Marky had sat on!

We love the Graco Nautilus car seat. It gives me complete peace of mind that it is safe, at the same as my toddler being comfortable and happy sat in it, that certainly makes a long trip alot more bearable! It is a great buy that will grow with your child.

You can find out more about the Graco Nautilus online www.graco.co.uk there is also a very hand feature which shows you all the retailers that stock the car seat in your area.
