Olive the Ostrich is a new show on Nick Jr that was launched on 5th September. It features the very lovely colourful character Olive the Ostrich.

Olive the Ostrich has been created in partnership with The Princes Foundation for Children and the Arts. Each episode of Olive the Ostrich features characters, props and backgrounds that have been created by school children aged betwen 6 and 9 years old.
A lucky few schools from across the UK hosted workshops to help inspire creativity and help to develop their story telling skills too. This is an amazing oppourtunity, as a mum to a 7 year old and 9 year old, I know they would both adore to know more about animation including what goes on behind the scenes, let alone help make their own episode that is shown on Nick Jr!

Olive the Ostrich is a beautiful animated bird who has a huge heart and a big imagination. You may reconise the Narrator of the show, it is the one and only Rolf Harris! When Olive buries her head into the sand you are transported into Olives adventures with something new in every episode. There is plenty of learning included and children will learn to help solve puzzles with the lovely Olive.

Mark, my 18 month old son loves Olive the Ostrich and actually says ‘strich’ and points when it comes on tv. Each episode is quite short, which I find is great for small children who don’t have a large concentration span, it is bright and colourful and engages and delights him. We love Olive the Ostrich and am sure you will too!
You can watch Olive the Ostrich on Nick Jr every weekday at 8.15am, and again throughout the day.
